Jorge's godmother!

Five months ago, the 12-year old Estephanie (my former sponsored child) has become one of the youngest CI sponsors to a little boy called Jorge (8) from Chimaltenango, Guatemala through my 'gift sponsorship' – (meaning everything financial covered by me).

 

She has just received the below WG follow-up report from her 'godson'. Estephanie was happy for me to share it with the forum.

Jorge's family is very grateful for receiving the support, Jorge is very happy because they were able to buy him clothes and shoes and also share basic necessities with the family. They are very happy for the support received.

 

"Hello dear godmother! I am very excited and very grateful to you, it was a very great emotion to have bought food and shoes and clothes and to know that you have sent me this help, which is a great blessing for me and my family. Since this is very helpful in my life since my father does not have a stable job. And for that I thank you with all my heart and at the same time wishing you Many Blessings in your life. May God take care of you and protect you always. Your godson says goodbye. Jorge Daniel Choy Cuxil."

 

I asked Estephanie how does she feel of being a godmother to a child from her homeland, and she replied..

"Jorge is very cute and I love being a godmother and seeing his face of joy as one day it was mine and it still is."

 

Estephanie is ambitious as ever and sent a beautiful picture she drew for me a few days ago. (added to My Media)

    What a distance Estephanie has come from the time you first sponsored her and what promise lies ahead for her!! Jorge's smile is contagious and what a beautiful young woman Estephanie is becoming!

    This story is simply wonderful! What a joyful way of teaching Estephanie about helping others and being a role model and a mentor. And little Jorge seems to love his little godmother already! I think they will develop a wonderful friendship!

    That is a lovely story Chelaka! I remember Estephanie.. I am sure she is learning much from this oportunity of becoming a sponsor. Jorge's smile looks so cute, I had to look 2 times and end up smiling back at him..

    Thank you for such wonderful compliments, I know most of you knew Estephanie – she is Jorge's first ever sponsor and only child to be sponsored in a family of 4 children. When she received the welcome pack from Jorge, she told me… "I am filled with emotion. He is a very humble child and you can see the great heart he has." For now I let her experience life in my shoes!

MSC archived stories -  January 1, 2019 In accordance with Guatemalan tradition, Katerin took a year break from school – just before I met her to celebrate quinceañera (girl celebrating her 15th birthday). She is now one and a half years away from graduating from the CI program. She is full of hopes for the future and determined to do well in studies, even though there were some setbacks in her academic performance in the past, as revealed in Education Report (ER). The ER, however stated that  “we do not recommend the sponsor send extra contribution for Katerin’s education since the risk that she will not be responsible is high.”    I simply could not believe or accept this premise because I trusted her to do well when she came into my care in early 2017.
