As you may know or heard of a girl's 15th birthday is widely celebrated by girls throughout Latin America. By being a sponsor with an upbringing in south-Asian culture really did not bring much attention to this once in a lifetime event until I started to see pictures of CI children celebrating this milestone to various degrees with their families and even sponsors.
I believe among CI families from Mexico and Guatemala do tend to celebrate this occasion more seriously than other Spanish-speaking countries despite growing up with both parents or single-parent.
I'd love to hear your story if you were fortunate enough to be part of their 'big day' especially those of us who are 'padrinos' (godfathers) to your child.
Photo: A never seen before footage of Estephanie (my former sponsored child) shared by her parents recently, wearing her birthday dress (gift from me) at age 7 and walking by in bustling Guatemala City. She is now 2yrs away from her quinceañera.
Speaking of which, I wonder when quinceañeras will be celebrated again?

Estephanie's niece in Guatemala, who is in my (direct) care, is celebrating her quinceañera next weekend with all precautionary measures taken.

I'm always mesmerized by people in our world, who live in hardship or poverty, yet strive to live their lives with dignity. This is even more remarkable to witness among our children. I love them for their choices of life style and fashion tastes with pride and decency. When I saw Katerin for the first time at age 15 (photo added to My Media), thought she resembled all of the beautiful things that she aspires to in her life.
